Kalyakool Farm in Gingin just north of Perth grows the super fruit Jujube. The farm managers had experienced numerous power outages affecting the ability to irrigate their crops from ground and rain water supplies.
Recent bushfires also highlighted the need to run irrigation pumps independently of the power grid. Renewable Battery Storage Solutions (RBSS) was asked by the owners “what battery system will run all my pumps, the farm house and shed when the grid goes down?”
Our solution – a 40kW/h Redflow battery energy storage system, with 3 x 10kVA Victron Inverters (30kVA capacity) storing energy from a 14kW PV array, allowing Kalyakool Farm to maintain a consistent power supply and run fully off-grid if need be.
The system is expected to be up and running late February 2020.
